Barry Bonds, who joined the Giants in San Francisco love '-or-hate-it No. 756 Home Run King of execution against the Washington Nationals this week, surpassing the legendary Hank Aaron 755 and get a place in history the record books from home Baseball time flows throughout life. Bonds, but now a different place in baseball history - or perhaps in the history of athletics - the most popular suspicion of doping to improve consumers in professional sports. If the securities arehas or has not banned the drug is another story. However, anabolic steroids are so widely used by athletes to clean only time to decide, a star athlete and the treatment of addiction by entering a depth of detoxification.

Anabolic steroids are used by athletes to increase muscle mass. Although banned by most professional sports leagues, due to the unfair advantage given by users, the drugs remain popular. The supply of steroidsmany unpleasant side effects, but also those who pose threats to health and even life. Also, add the dependency property of steroids in the discussion of the fans and the media better control and stricter penalties for abusers.

And tests more frequent and more severe penalties, and mandatory drug treatment programs may not be a bad idea. Rules like "you're out of all the games until he was able to detoxify" achieve some positiveEntry

1. Media Consortium help to deter amateur athletes with steroids or other banned for doping.

2.

3. Media Consortium help clean up the perpetrators of steroids, their health and that of their sport.

4.

Another good reason for all those who abuse steroids, a drug rehabilitation program for drug use is due to the withdrawal of steroids, the main cause of unpredictable violence- Known as "Roid Rage" among athletes. Treatment should include the best of modern methods of detoxification and rehabilitation.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has cited the aggressive, paranoid jealousy, extreme irritability, delusions, judgment and the sense of invincibility side effects of steroid abuse. Thus, the jury is stillU.S. Figure famous for steroid abuse. However, we can not deny that he is one of the most talented baseball players at a time to come. If Bonds transformative power to improve the drug only a gentleman in a positively frightening, is now at home at the time all the rulers of manipulation, and we're stuck.

Meanwhile, all the athletes to do the will of books with a record better steroids should not forget that researchers at Yale have discovered a long-termThe abuse of steroids has all the classic signs of addiction - the desire, the inability to stop using and dangerous withdrawal symptoms. Addiction is a disease

Assuming that addiction is a disease that seems trivial on the surface, but look people in drug addiction are different from heart disease or cancer, or a cold. It is always accompanied by guilt of addiction. There is always the finger at those who suffer from substance abuse to determine the disease.

Many say that in society, the dependence is entirely to blame. This is not the same type ofSympathy for addicts, and smokers with cancer or those with diabetes and heart disease. They are not considered as people with an illness.

The justification of society does not understand that the addict is simple. People become addicted because they have decided to take the first medicine. John Q. Public sees in this way, and morality can change, for not taking drugs, and someone else has done. Maybe John Q. took the drug had not receivedconnected. Users who might be a thrill of drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin, by the attempt to end "," high "produced and chronic are those who recognized the need to have well developed beyond mere emotion.

Prescription drugs are used, such as Oxycontin, coveted because the effect is even more intense than that of heroin on the street. Even if they do not want a thrill, people can still have DependencyDrugs simply because they feel more than the prescribed quantity is better. In any case, no one asked their lives to ruin.

You can start innocent, but people went out of control. What started as a lark as a millstone around his neck. Front of him and you can not get rid of him. No matter how bad the person is no longer in control and no power can get rid of the disease. People have a few drinks, or sip a little 'Holidays in the buffet, but said that sooner or later your body, it's time to stop. The addict, the "thing", says the station is not there. Are not enough, and continue long after a person has left. E 'inability to stop, causing pain and suffering.

Whatever the drug of choice, intervention and treatment for drug addicts are forced to return to a healthy lifestyle. The problem for the addict is that the company is a stigma that has been grantedDisease. The wicked are drug addicts. Mostly drugs. Unwanted people are addicts. No, drug addicts, good people, nice people. Educated people, blue collar, rich, poor, all colors and all types of addicts. You can all suffer. No one is exempt.

Over the Counter Drug Abuse - Prescribed Addiction?

You can't get away from them. Prescription drugs are all over the television, every channel is filled with ads for pills; pills that will make our lives better. There are pills for allergies, pills for heart problems, pills for sexual problems, pills for blood disorders and pills for depression.

You need these pills to be healthy and happy. Madison Avenue and the pharmaceutical industry have collaborated to create the great American need for pills.

Are doctors causing the problem?

I do not intend to thrash away on the legitimate medical use of pills. Not at all, but the truly marvelous advances in medicine have taken a back seat to the lure of enormous profits. The drug companies visit clinics and hospitals, selling their product to doctors. Use our drugs, not their drugs is the message. There may or may not be financial incentive for the doctor, depending on the ethics of the individual. But ethics is at the heart of the issue.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel ran a front page article by Gina Barton on February 24, entitled "Lethal drugs, lethal access" that told the story of the unexpected consequences of prescription medicine. Barton told the story of Daryl Collie, who overdosed on a combination of painkillers oxycodone and diazepam.

Collie's father, Alfred, trusted the care of the physician. He did not know what was going on. His son got drugs from his primary care physician, who would later go to prison for selling prescriptions. He had another doctor writing scripts, and that doctor would run afoul with the law for writing "huge amounts of prescriptions for addictive pain killers." Daryl also got drugs from a third doctor, who had been investigated for the same issue. The story talked about sanctions against the three doctors by the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board.

How did Collie get three different doctors to write prescriptions?

The article focused on doctors who overstepped the bounds of accepted medical practice. Even if there were no ethical issues on the part of the doctors, there was still no way to prevent the problem from occurring.

Once a person becomes addicted, they need to become cleaver to make sure there is a constant source of their drug(s) of choice. Emergency departments all over the country face drug-seeking patients every day.

They come in for treatment.

They demand treatment. They sue if they don't get treatment.

The law protects their right to abuse the system.

What if a triage nurse in a hospital could access a data base and see that the patient has been given prescriptions for X, Y and Z? What if a primary care physician could go online and see that their new patient has received these prescriptions from other physicians?

There needs to be a balance

There has to be a balance between patient need and patient demand. A patient may need more drug to manage pain over time, but will not be addicted. The patient's condition needs to be monitored and medical decisions need to be based on that information.

But if a patient is seeing several physicians who do not know about each other, and receives prescriptions that lead to an overdose, the arbiter of this scenario is probably going to be a district attorney.

A national database could help

A national database on prescriptions will be the first tool in instituting tighter regulations on the distribution of legal drugs. You can argue the right to privacy of medical records, but I would submit that when a patient seeks additional prescriptions which are in direct conflict with accepted medical practice, to use the drugs for other than their intended purpose, or to in any way involve a third party in an unethical or illegal act (i.e. the pharmacist) that is cause for a more public reaction.

Regardless of the circumstances of their addiction, the patient is not in a position to make an ethical or moral decision. In the vast majority of cases, physicians are the ones who should have the say on what is prescribed, but have access to complete and reliable information, not just the word of the patient.

Those few physicians who violate the trust we place in them and cross over the line, do not deserve to practice medicine and the medical community needs to deal with that. Otherwise we will have lawyers practicing medicine.

Pharmaceutical companies need to be part of solution

Drug abuse is abundant in our country. If nothing else, just take the ads of TV. Pharmaceutical companies do great good in developing medicines to fight against so many diseases. That is to be respected, but when the fight for the good of mankind becomes more business than science, the ethical and moral issues pollute the cause.

Over the counter drug abuse is very often a Prescribed Addiction!
